EV Charging
Charging at home or at your business starts with the electrical work behind the charger. E-Tech Masters provides EV charger electrical installation for residential and commercial customers across Toronto and the GTA, from assessing your electrical system to completing the installation.
Why E-Tech Masters
A 100% Canadian electrical contractor providing residential and commercial electrical services.
Charging overnight in your own driveway or garage is the most convenient way to keep an electric vehicle ready to go. Doing it safely depends on how the charger connects to your home’s electrical system.
Before anything is installed, we look at where you want the charger, how far that spot is from your electrical panel and how the wiring would be routed, and whether your panel has the capacity for an additional circuit. An EV charger typically needs its own dedicated circuit sized for the charger’s requirements, and it has to work alongside everything else your home already uses.
That assessment shapes the installation plan, so the charger is integrated properly with your existing electrical system rather than added as an afterthought.
What we look at
Most electric vehicles come with a cord that plugs into a standard household outlet, but charging that way is slow. A Level 2 charger uses a 240-volt supply, similar to what larger appliances such as an electric dryer or range use, and can charge a vehicle considerably faster. That’s why it’s a common choice for home and workplace charging.
Because a Level 2 charger places a significant, sustained load on the electrical system, the property’s existing service and available capacity need to be reviewed first. Not every property can support every charger as it is. The assessment shows what your system can handle and whether any additional electrical work is needed.
E-Tech Masters provides residential and commercial electrical services, and EV charger installation is planned the same way for both: around the property’s electrical system and how the charger will be used.
For homes and residential properties, we help you choose a practical charger location, review your panel and available capacity, and install the dedicated circuit and wiring the charger needs.
EV charging can also be added at commercial properties. The electrical installation is planned around the property's existing electrical system and its charging requirements, including where chargers will be located and how they will be used.
Before you choose a charger
An EV charger adds a large electrical load that can run for hours at a time. Whether your system can take it depends on the capacity of your existing electrical service, the condition and available space in your electrical panel, the requirements of the charger you choose, and the other loads already in the property, such as heating and cooling equipment and major appliances.
That’s why the assessment comes before the installation. Some systems can accommodate a charger as they are; others may need additional electrical work first, depending on the existing setup. Knowing which applies to your property up front avoids surprises later.
What gets reviewed
01
Tell us about your vehicle, where you’d like to charge and the charger you’re considering, if you’ve chosen one.
02
We review your electrical service, panel and available capacity, along with the proposed charger location.
03
We plan the circuit, the wiring route and any additional electrical work the property may need.
04
The electrical work is completed by E-Tech Masters, an ESA licensed electrical contractor.

E-Tech Masters is licensed by the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) in Ontario.
An EV charger is electrical equipment connected to a dedicated circuit that carries a heavy load, often for hours at a time. The installation needs to meet applicable Ontario electrical safety requirements, and depending on the work, it may be subject to applicable notification and inspection requirements.
E-Tech Masters is ESA Licensed Electrical Contractor #7012823. Having a licensed electrical contractor plan and complete the work helps make sure the charger is installed with the right circuit, wiring and protection for your property.
Every property is different. These are the main factors that shape the scope of an EV charger installation, and we review them with you during the consultation.
How much capacity your electrical service has left once existing loads are accounted for.
Where the charger will be mounted and where the vehicle will be parked.
How far the wiring has to run from the electrical panel and the route it needs to take.
The panel's condition, available space and how the existing electrical system is set up.
The electrical requirements of the charger you plan to install.
Site conditions such as wall construction, outdoor wiring runs and access that affect the work.
EV charger installation is one part of our residential and commercial electrical services, alongside work such as pot lights, custom home wiring and backup generator installation.

A Level 2 EV charger is typically installed on its own dedicated circuit, sized to the charger’s electrical requirements. The circuit is planned as part of the assessment of your electrical system.
It depends on your electrical service, the panel’s available capacity and space, the charger’s requirements and the other loads in your property. Some panels can accommodate a charger as they are; others may need additional electrical work. An assessment is the way to find out.
Common locations include a garage wall or an exterior wall near the driveway or parking area. The best spot depends on where the vehicle is parked, the distance from the electrical panel and how the wiring can be routed.

An EV charger draws a heavy electrical load for long periods, so the circuit, wiring and protection need to be right, and the installation must meet applicable Ontario electrical safety requirements. E-Tech Masters is ESA Licensed Electrical Contractor #7012823.
