Residential Electrical
From small changes around the house to the electrical work behind a renovation or addition, E-Tech Masters helps homeowners across Toronto and the GTA get it done properly. As an ESA licensed electrical contractor serving residential and commercial customers, we plan the work around your home and its existing electrical system.
Why E-Tech Masters
A home’s electrical needs change over time. You might want receptacles where the furniture actually goes, better lighting in a room that never had enough, or a new circuit for an appliance or piece of equipment. Larger projects, such as renovations and additions, usually involve more extensive wiring changes.
Whatever the size of the job, the starting point is the same: understanding what you want to achieve and what your existing electrical system can support. From there, we plan and complete the work with you.
Common residential electrical needs
Renovation electrical work can include
Renovations are often the best time to update a home’s electrical system. With walls and ceilings open, wiring can be changed, receptacles and switches can be placed where the new layout needs them, and lighting can be planned around how the space will be used.
A new layout can also create new electrical requirements, such as additional circuits for appliances or equipment. That new work has to integrate with the home’s existing electrical system, so we look at the current setup before planning changes, and plan any additional circuits as part of the overall scope.
Electrical terms can be confusing. Here’s what each part means for your home:
The cables that carry power from your panel to the lights, receptacles and appliances throughout the home.
The circuits that serve groups of lights and receptacles in different rooms and areas.
A circuit reserved for one appliance or piece of equipment that requires its own supply.
Outlets placed where you actually need power, including new and relocated locations.
Switches and controls positioned for convenient control of lighting and other devices.
Connecting appliances, fixtures and equipment to the electrical system correctly.
Capacity
Adding a new appliance, finishing more living space, installing an EV charger or adding major equipment can all increase a home’s electrical demand. Every new load is supplied through the electrical panel, so it’s worth knowing what your panel can support before adding to it.
We review your existing panel, its available capacity and the new loads you’re planning. Some changes fit within the existing system; others may need electrical changes first. The assessment is what tells you which applies to your home.
What we review
Lighting
Good lighting changes how a room works. We install new lighting, relocate fixtures to suit a new layout and handle lighting changes during renovations, along with the wiring, circuits, switches and controls that go with them.
E-Tech Masters also provides dedicated pot light installation for homeowners who want to add recessed lighting.
Custom Homes
In a custom home, the electrical system can be planned around how you intend to live in the space. Our custom home wiring service covers planning the wiring around the home’s layout, including lighting, receptacle locations, circuits and the electrical requirements of the appliances and equipment you plan to use.
EV Charging
Charging at home is the most convenient way to keep an electric vehicle ready to go. Because an EV charger adds a significant electrical load, your existing electrical system and its capacity need to be considered first. Learn more about our EV charger installation.
Backup Power
A backup generator can keep selected essential circuits, or more of your home, running when utility power is interrupted. Learn more about our backup generator installation for homes across Toronto and the GTA.
